'Hatman 1''
'Hat Man' is a series of images evolved using a portrait bust of Eddie Thomas, the Boxer, as a convenient support for my Panama hat. Using watercolour as the media I explored the theme and variation as a possible new sculpture. Each image had a different language and capable of standing alone. John Skeaping's advice to make sculpture on paper still resonates. Of course the 'Hat Man' sculpture has not been made and unlikely ever to be, but it is a sculpture on paper like hundreds of others.
